Oualidia
When the tide is in, it creates a small island that you can reach by swimming or kayaking.
Anyway, since we've been in Morocco, we haven't quite found a beach that we would necessarily want to visit again. First of all, the water can be very rough and with kids it's just not going to work. Second, the beaches are sometimes littered with trash. But a friend of ours told us about a beach about 3 hours south of Rabat that she said would not disappoint. And she was right.

We've never been to a beach like the one in Oualidia. It's actually a lagoon which makes the water pretty calm and somewhat warm (according to locals and those from Europe, like waaaay up north in Europe). And the best part was that it wasn't crowded like most beaches are in Morocco. The kids absolutely loved it!
On this day, we rented a boat that took us further down the lagoon to a more secluded beach for a fresh seafood feast!
Mason and his friend tried so hard to catch something, but all they caught was seaweed.

As the tide goes out exposing more sand, people come out to play soccer or in our case, play war with wet sand. Ember could crawl around for hours without worrying about going into deep water. She was so happy! In the mornings, we ventured out to the cliffs to watch the fishermen and hurried back before the tide came back in to avoid having to swim in freezing water.
Oualidia is a special place and we will definitely return very soon!
