Nepal is the kind of place you want to visit more than once. For the outdoor enthusiast it is a Mecca for recreational activities. After the girls trip last November, I was so excited to find out I'd be able to go back. I loved it there. If it wasn't for the horrible air pollution in Kathmandu, then we'd bid on it in a heartbeat!
Mason and Cadyn LOVE being outdoors and that is where they spent most of the their time when we were living in Columbia. Their absolute favorite thing to do was to go hiking along the river near our house to "our spot" where they could swim, play in the sand, climb rocks, and catch minnows and craw dads. We miss "our spot". Unfortunately, our options for outdoor recreation are pretty limited in Dhaka, so taking the kids trekking in Nepal has always been on our list of "must-dos before we leave Bangladesh".
After the triathlon we set off on the 3-day Ghandruk Loop trek with our good friends, the Youngs. Having their two girls around really made the trekking easier because all four kids could entertain themselves and encourage each other to keep going when things got tough..........and it did. We chose this particular trek because it's the easiest and kid-friendliest one in Nepal. Now, an "easy" rating in Nepal is not a leisurely walk in the woods like it would be in the U.S. I'd say it's more like a medium-hard/hard. Essentially, all the climbing involved steep, uneven stairs that also made descending very challenging for little legs. And while a 7-hour a day trek wouldn't be out of the ordinary for an adult, imagine how tiring it must be for little kids! Seriously, we had a 4, 5, 6, and 8-year-old hiking for 7 hours every day and they had fun doing it.

Everyone had a great time and we rewarded ourselves with good food, beer..........uh well, a fruit smoothie for me, and shopping. The kids got some much deserved chocolate bars!
