Lordy, Lordy, Look Who Turned 40!

| Surprise!!! |
Guess who turned 40 this year? Nooooooo.....I still have a few more years to enjoy my 30s, thank you very much! Robbie did, of course.
Although I'm not particularly fond of event planning, I managed to throw a surprise party at Izumi for Robbie. But I can't take all the credit....our friends did a great job of keeping it a secret for 2 weeks! And these are people he sees almost every day. However, it's the Bangladeshis who don't quite seem to understand the concept of surprise parties. Take for example, our driver. First of all, I felt like I had to tell him about the party because he was driving me back and forth from the restaurant for my meetings with the party planner. And he also took me to the commissary so that I could load up on bottles and bottles of booze. Not knowing what was going through his mind, I told him about the surprise party and reminded him FOUR times on FOUR separate occasions that he not mention anything about it to Robbie. So you would think that he got the message, right? Nope.
To make some extra money, our driver works for another family (who happens to be friends of ours) on the weekends. So who do you think we see on the way to the restaurant? Yep. But that's not the problem. The problem was that our driver started waving his arms in the air while yelling excitedly, "Madam, you need to go that way! The party is over there! Everyone is ready!" My response? "Uhhh, okay. What do you mean? What party? Uh, okay. Nevermind. Bye." I look over at Robbie and he looks thoroughly confused. But at least, he doesn't suspect anything.......yet. We park the car and proceed into the restaurant. Trying to act oblivious, I tell the waiter that we have a reservation for two people. (I should mention that I also told the staff three times that this was a surprise party and not to mention the other guests when we arrive.) What do you think happens? Yep. "This way Madam, everyone is waiting in the room!" Of course, that gave everything away and Robbie figured out what was going on. But it was still a huge surprise for him to see all of our friends when they opened the doors. He was so happy to be celebrating his 40th with good food and great friends.
Happy Birthday to the best husband and father in the world! We love you! Oh, and by the way, don't expect another surprise party from me:)
