Happy Birthday Mason!

That smile warms our hearts every time.
Mason turned 7 today and to celebrate we threw a party at the ARA.  At first Robbie and I weren't sure what to do for entertainment.  Mason has outgrown the inflatable bouncy castles, it was too cold for a pool party, and there aren't any kiddie establishments like Putt-Putt or Chuckie Cheese (which isn't exactly a bad thing).  We even thought about camping out in our yard but Mason really wanted to invite his entire class of 20 kids and we were definitely not thrilled with that idea.  So instead, we brought a bunch of balls, a bat, giant frisbees, and organized a scavenger hunt (Sara, if you're reading this, we stole this idea from you.).

Reading a clue to get to the next clue.
The kids had an absolute blast!  We divided the kids up into three groups.  They ran all over the ARA searching for all the clues which would eventually lead them to three different treasure maps that showed them where to dig for the buried treasure.  I wish I had taken pictures of the treasure maps before the kids ripped them to pieces - Robbie did an amazing job with the artwork.  He even burned the edges and added special touches here and there to make them look old and weathered.

Now that we have the map, where's the
treasure?
Keep digging girls!
It's in there somewhere.
We found the treasure!
We kept the scavenger hunt a surprise from Mason so he was very excited when we finally announced what we were going to do.  And now Cadyn wants to have a "scabber hunt" for her birthday party (The way she says it is just too cute to correct.).
