Vietnam

Vietnam has been on my list of "Must-See Countries" for a long time and I can now cross it off that list. Since Mason had a long break from school for the Eid holiday, we decided to spend 10 days exploring Vietnam. We stopped in Bangkok along the way to have dinner with Robbie's former USAID colleague, Ae.  I have been craving Thai food for months now, so we treated our bellies to some yummy curries and deliciously sauteed veggies.

Here are some of the highlights from the trip:

A water puppet show in Hanoi
Beautiful Halong Bay
The Treasure Junk - our home for 3 days.
The tour company upgraded us to the honeymoon suite unexpectedly!  Check it out!  We even had our own deck where we could watch the sunset!

Every morning we would drop anchor and hop into kayaks to explore the bay and paddle through some of the many tunnels and caves.  This was our favorite part of the trip!

Paddling through the pitch dark "Fairy Caves".  Cadyn is
convinced she saw a green fairy.
We also kayaked to a secluded beach to go swimming.  The kids were excited about getting out of the boat for a bit to play in the sand and swim in the water.

Can you see Cadyn?

Mason and Cadyn loved exploring the caves!

Cannonball!!!!!!

Chowing down on some pho in Ho Chi Minh City

The beach on Con Dao Island

Don't let his cuteness fool you.  This stinker
ended up attacking Mason for his apple.  We
came across a whole clan of them while hiking
through the rainforest on our way to Ong Dung
Beach.

Ong Dung Beach.  The kids got to snorkel around
a coral reef for the first time and saw lots of beautiful
colorful fish.  Cadyn's favorite was the blue tang
fish that "looked like Dory" from Finding Nemo.
