Tunisia
With passports in hand and his & hers kiddie luggages in tow, Mason and Cadyn hopped on a plane with Mom & Dad and headed to Tunisia. It's about a 10 hour flight with a stop in Frankfurt and considering how antsy small kids can be, they did pretty well. It was harder on Cadyn because it was a little difficult for her to get comfortable when she wanted to sleep, and our girl loves her sleep! Adjusting to the time change was no problem at all which helped them to feel like they were on the same routine as at home. Here are some of the highlights from the trip:
Tunisians absolutely adore children. So you can imagine how much attention the kids got, especially Cadyn. People would stop and kiss and take pictures of her - basically the same treatment Mason got in Indonesia. One farmer even offered 200 camels in exchange for Cadyn.
Desert camping in the Sahara. There are no words to describe how beautiful and peaceful it is out there and the pictures just don't do it justice. The kids did surprisingly well considering how cold it was inside the tent. Of course, they loved the camel ride!
Matmata, Ong El Jemal, & Mos Espa. For all you Star Wars fans, you'll probably recognize the names because the first few movies were filmed here. Mason loves Star Wars even though he had never seen the movie before the trip. Mom was very hesitant about letting him see it but since we really wanted him to recognize the sights, she finally gave in and let him watch it. Needless to say, he was very confused when we got to "Star Wars City". The first thing he says is, "Where are all the people? Where's Luke?".
Ropes Course. He's only 4 but Mason showed off some mad skills on the ropes course. His favorite was obviously the zip line. Cadyn even got to suit up and try the toddler ropes course. She got a little upset when we told her she was too small to do the zip line.
Sidi Bou Said. White washed buildings and bright blue doors line the cobblestone streets of this small section of Tunis. The Mediterranean Sea makes a perfect backdrop.

Tunisia is a beautiful country with so many different landscapes. The people are very friendly, the food is delicious, and we are happy that we were able to share this experience with the kids.
