The Big 2!

It's hard to believe that Mason is now 2 years old! It seems like only yesterday we were bringing him home from the hospital. Now I understand what my parents were talking about when they'd say how Sov and I were growing up so fast. We spent a week in Savannah and Tybee Island so there was no birthday party. But I think Tybee Island made up for that. We went to Tybee to visit Dave and Sue who live on a 4-H campground. Dave runs the environmental education center and Sue is a teacher at a private school. Dave showed Mason all the animals at the center - he got to touch turtles, snakes, alligators, and a lizard-like dragon. The turtles were his favorite, particularly Squirty the Loggerhead. Then he went on his first kayaking trip in the marsh. We didn't think he'd get in at first, but there was no hesitation. He was ready to jump right in. Now we know we'll be able to take him kayaking this spring/summer. We also took him on a bike ride around Tybee and along the beach - Mason could not stop laughing....until we rode a little too close to the ocean. Not a big fan just yet. It's amazing how much Mason has changed in 2 years. He makes us laugh every day and is constantly surprising us with new words or tricks that he's learned. He reminds us every day of just how lucky we are.
